Ambassador Kattil was invited by the People to People International (PTPI) Tainan Chapter, R.O.C., to attend its regular meeting on February 18.

PTPI is a non-profit organization founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956, aiming to promote peace and understanding through personal connections across cultures. The Tainan Chapter actively engages in cultural exchanges, community service, and educational initiatives to foster a spirit of goodwill and friendship among diverse peoples.

Ambassador Kattil commended the PTPI Tainan Chapter for its excellent efforts to promote and foster cultural exchange and mutual understanding between communities. Ambassador Kattil informed the gathering about the Marshall Islands, a long-standing friend and ally of the Republic of China(Taiwan) of 26 years and further discussed the challenges as well as the aspirations of the Marshall Islands. She expressed a keen desire to work closely with PTPI to promote initiatives that enhance bilateral relations and facilitate meaningful exchanges between the people of the Marshall Islands and Taiwan. “Together, we can create programs that not only address our challenges but also celebrate our cultures and shared values” she remarked. “I believe that by collaborating with organizations like PTPI, we can unlock new opportunities for growth and understanding.”


Additionally, H.E. Ambassador Hsiao, Director General of the MOFA Southwestern Taiwan Office, delivered remarks about his time in the Marshall Islands. Ambassador Hsiao shared personal anecdotes and emphasized the deep connections he formed during his tenure. Ambassador Hsiao encouraged attendees to continue fostering relationships between the two nations, highlighting the importance of cultural understanding and collaboration.

President of the PTPI Tainan Chapter Mr. Fu-Chung Chang thanked the ambassadors for their insights and commitment to strengthening ties between the RMI and ROC(Taiwan). Chang indicated dedication to working closely with Ambassador Kattil and coordinating a possible visit by PTPI members to the Marshall Islands.
